New Year’s Night

Ok, so our New Years night has officially started. It’s comfortable, but definitely not the fiesta that is happening around the rest of the world. Me nursing my snot spigot and surfing gizmodo for interesting stories and K on the couch cuddled up with a blanket listening to This American Life.

Outside it is a beautiful night, the moonlight turning the world blue as it reflects off the snow covered ground. Unfortunately even the 5 minutes I spent out in the chilly blueness made my head ache and my nose start pouring. There are fireworks exploding all around us, surrounding towns and neighbors lighting off their shows early. Luckily, Murdock is fast asleep and between the dish washer and This American Life, they can barely be heard.

The first gem I’ve dug up off of gizmodo today is not terribly high tech, but it could definitely be useful. Do you remember the Hypercolor t-shirts of the 80’s? In my adolescent brain, they constituted a pinnacle of cool. They may have had some staying power if they hadn’t been tye dyed, but I digress. The point is, Hypercolor technology is back, but with a purpose. They have developed a color changing spoon that tells you when your soup is hot. Changing color at 120 F, but heat resistant up to 250 F, they are microwave, dishwasher and freezer safe. Better yet? They are cheap. A set of 3 spoons is just $9.50.
