Are we being misinformed?

In the weeks since the 9/11 attacks, we have seen a number of “accidents” occur in our country and around the world. Now the media keeps talking about how jumpy we are in the wake of the attacks and how we, the public, are jumping to the conclusion of “Terror” as these stories unfold. There have been at least 4 incidents that have caught my attention.

1. The Amtrak Crash (09/13/01)

In this incident a cross country Amtrak passenger train collided with a freight train, catching fire, but luckily only causing minor injuries among a small number of the 200+ passengers.

2. The Greyhound Accident (10/03/01)
(::Click Here:: for more info)

In this incident a man with a croatian passport slit the throat of a Greyhound bus driver and then attempted to steer the bus into oncoming traffic, instead hitting the median and rolling the bus. 6 people died, including the assailant.

3. The Russian Airline Explosion (10/04/01)

(1) (2)

In this incident, 78 people died when a Russian airline exploded in mid-air as it flew over the Black Sea. There are conflicting reports, some saying it was accidentally shot down by a stray missile from a military exercise, others saying it was a terrorist act.

4. Man Contracts Anthrax (10/04/01)
(::Click Here:: for more info)

This story broke yesterday saying that a florida man has been diagnosed with the rarest form of Anthrax. Pulmonary Anthrax. There have been only 18 cases of this disease in the U.S. over the entirety of the last century.

Now I'm not saying that all of this means anything conclusively, but there are fact in all but the Amtrak crash (where there is a lack of almost ANY information other than that there was a crash), that point to possible terrorism, yet the government keeps saying that there is no evidence linking these occurences to terrorism. It just strikes me as odd that there are so many accidents so close to such a tragedy, although none of it is linked. Now who knows, maybe I am just jumpy, or perhaps the government is misinforming in an attempt to keep the country calm in the face of danger.
